Dusk Events

written for JACK quartet

This piece started with frogs singing. I heard them while I was walking home on the evening of a surreal, dreamy day, and I initially mistook the noise for a group of birds. It was so resonant and immersive that I felt compelled to capture a recording on my phone.  Upon researching the source of the warbling when I had gotten home, I discovered the noise was actually hundreds and hundreds of little tree frogs. My recording documented a moment in time I’m grateful to have record of, and the piece is a representation of that.
